The Republic of Bulgaria will donate to our country a part of each shipment of Covid-19 vaccines, which they bought directly from the manufacturers. This was decided this morning at a government session in Sofia, which was also attended by Macedonia’s Minister of Health Venko Filipce.

With this decision, Covid-19 vaccines will arrive in our country at the same time as in other European Union member states. Bulgaria, as an EU member, had the privilege of negotiating directly with a number of manufacturers. Thanks to this friendly act, with this donation we will soon start the vaccination process and facilitate access to vaccines so that we can vaccinate 60 to 70% of the population. According to the information from the health authorities in the Republic of Bulgaria, first to arrive in Sofia will be the Pfizer vaccine, then Moderna, and AstraZeneca, Filipce wrote on Facebook.

The technical details regarding the delivery were also discussed, and Filipce believes that at the same time Macedonia will receive part of the vaccines from other EU countries.

Apart from a donation from the Republic of Bulgaria, our country also provided vaccines through the Covax mechanism. The European Union has provided 400 million vaccines to member states and an additional 100 million to non-EU countries, which can be obtained through mediation of member states. So far, Poland and Greece have offered this kind of assistance to our country. Macedonia is negotiating with the producers for direct supply of vaccines from them too, wrote Filipce.
