Macedonia slips 7 places in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business report for this year. According to the latest report, Macedonia is ranked17th, while last year the country was 10th.
The report assesses improvement in ease of doing business environments such as starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency.
Macedonia holds the best position in the Balkan countries. According to the latest rankings, Slovenia is ranked 37th, Serbia 44th, Montenegro 50th, Croatia 51st, Romania 55th, Bulgaria 61st and Greece 79th.
At the top of the list is New Zealand, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Denmark, South Korea, the United States, Georgia, Norway and Sweden. At the bottom, however, remain Somalia, Eritrea, Venezuela, Yemen, Libya and South Sudan.
