The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from Skopje confirmed the positive result of anthrax and informed that all necessary preventive measures were taken and that the most advanced safety protocols were followed. In accordance with the legislation, the Faculty notified the Food and Veterinary Agency, the Ministry of Health, the State Health and Sanitary Inspectorate and the Center for Public Health – Skopje.

The faculty, in consultation with the University Clinic for Infectious Diseases and on their recommendation, and according to established protocols for prophylactic treatment in the event of potential exposure to anthrax, the employees exposed to contact with the sample received prophylaxis, reads the statement.

No employees at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Skopje, according to the statement, have been infected with anthrax.
