At the first attempt at today’s parliamentary session, the entire parliamentary group left the hall in a sign of revolt for violating the Rules of Procedure, and the rejected proposal to remove from the agenda the item for appointing a new member to replace the dismissed Fadil Zendeli from BESA. The ruling SDSM reiterated that the change in the composition of this committee is only a reflection of the majority. They called on the opposition to make proposals for working bodies that do not function due to vacancies.
Zendeli has been nominated as a new member of the Committee for Elections and Appointments by MP Darko Kaevski from SDSM, and MP Marija Georgievska, also from the ruling party, has been nominated as chairperson. However, there was no quorum of at least 61 MPs at the session and the agenda remained unapproved.
Earlier, the government rejected the bill of VMRO-DPMNE to reduce excise taxes on fuels and cancel VAT on food products. According to the calculation of VMRO-DPMNE, with their proposal, gasoline would be cheaper by 13 and oil by nine denars, as opposed to the government decision which reduces fuel excise by one denar.
