Two Iranian migrants reported to Kumanovo police that they witnessed the rape of an Afghan woman in the village of Lojane, on the border with Serbia.

The two men approached police officers in the migrant center at the Tabanovce border crossing. They reported that several men attacked them in Lojane, seized money and mobile phones. They also witnessed the rape, and said that the woman was afterwards transported to Serbia, probably through an illegal crossing.

Border villages such as Lojane and Vaksince are main centers for trafficking migrants at this section of the Balkan route. Migrants are frequently kept by the dozens in a single house by local traffickers, who charge them to get them into Serbia.
