Blerim Reka, the presidential candidate of the ethnic Albanian parties AA and BESA, predicts that the win of the nationalist-populist Self-Determination (VV) party in Kosovo will spill over into Macedonia. The two opposition Albanian parties in Macedonia are nurturing their ties with Albin Kurti’s VV and expect his support in the 2020 general elections in Macedonia.

When I was speaking that the unstoppable anti-corruption avalanche in the Balkans will begin in Kosovo people laughed. Well now the avalanche has started, sparked by the call from the United States that voters don’t support corrupt politicians, and there is no telling where it ends, Reka said.

The main target of the Albanian opposition parties in Macedonia is the perennial coalition partner DUI, whose leaders have been able to avoid being prosecuted for both war crimes and corruption.
