“Alfa” remains a thorn in SDSM’s side, the TV station clams, adding that while the party was in opposition they made threats, and now as a government they exert unprecedented pressure.

All institutions are in an attempt to find “a needle in a haystack” and to harm the only critical TV station that remained on the Macedonian air. What was hinted at from the position of opposition is now being implemented as a government, the TV station says.

TV Alfa TV is attacked from several sides – PRO, prosecutors, inspections.

Former Prime Minister and party leader, Zoran Zaev, more than six years ago, declared some of the media political enemies.

At the moment, the position of SDSM and my personal position is that the biggest political enemy for us as opposition are the media such as “Sitel”, “Kanal 5”, “Alfa TV”, “Dnevnik” and “MRT”, said the then leader of SDSM , Zoran Zaev, on December 1, 2015.

“Alfa” is the only one that remained a thorn in the side. Subtle and not so subtle threats followed which only gained momentum.

The example of the former party leader was followed by almost all officials – by labeling the TV station and reporters.

However, the pressure on “Alfa” did not remain only threats, the TV station says, adding that the government uses all the mechanisms at its disposal in an attempt to silence the only critical television that remained on the Macedonian air.

As “Alfa”‘s viewership grows, and the government’s rating falls – so do the pressure intensifies.

The last in the series is the one from the Public Revenue Office, which has prepared a decision for collection of an alleged debt of about 200 thousand euros, in which huge interest rates have been calculated, and for which there is still a court case that has not been resolved.

Almost every day the television is visited by various inspectors, investigators, prosecutors. Despite all the checks and combs on the documentation for years, so far they have failed to find anything wrong or illegal.
