The Council of public prosecutors informed today that they still haven’t received a resignation note from Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva.

Yesterday a number of news sites close to Janeva and the Special Prosecutor’s Office informed that she sent out a handwritten resignation letter from the Sutka prison. It comes a day after she sent an order to the SPO prosecutors to hand over their case files to the OJO office of state prosecutors, effectively abolishing the “elite” unit of prosecutors.

Legal experts question the validity of this order, given that the law states that a detained prosecutor loses all authority, and the idea that Janeva, detained for abusing her powers in the SPO could still give orders to the same SPO was met with ridicule in the public.

The Parliament is expected to meet soon and vote on her dismissal.
