Prosecutor Vilma Ruskoska informed that the “lost phone” used by Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva was thoroughly formatted before it was located and all data on it was scrubbed. Janeva was searched by the police two and a half weeks ago, following the arrest of her close associate Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13 on racketeering charges.

She handed over one of her phones, but claimed that she “lost” the other. A week later it was located with an employee of Janeva’s Special Prosecutor’s Office, who is also the girlfriend of Janeva’s son Lazar Janev.

Prosecutors then said that they will examine the phone, but now Ruskoska says that it was scrubbed, and this included its cloud. Ruskoska is investigating the level of Janeva’s involvement in the racketeering scandal, in which Boki 13 reportedly extorted millions from businessmen who were charged by Janeva.

Meanwhile, Janeva reportedly also ordered the formatting of all computers in her office. Her IT team started the formatting, but had to stop after SPO employees got scared that they will also be investigated for destruction of evidence. Despite calls from the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party that Janeva must be detained to stop her from destroying any more evidence, Ruskoska won’t expand the investigation, and is not going after the SDSM party officials who are suspected of being involved in the scandal either.
