Employees from the disgraced Special Prosecutor’s Office issued a appeal to the public and the foreign embassies in Macedonia to have their jobs protected as the fate of Katica Janeva’s institution is being discussed.

Following the major scandal, in which it was revealed that Janeva was routinely abusing her office to subvert justice and to extort millions from businessmen, the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party demands that her staff is also investigated for their role in the scandal, and rejects the request from the SDSM led Government to transfer the staff to the proposed new SPO office.

Justice Minister Renata Deskoska today said that she proposes having Janeva’s staff hired into the OJO/PPO office of state prosecutors.

During the talks about the law on state prosecutors, we pay attention to the SPO employees and discuss their future status. Our suggestion was that they are transferred to the national OJO office, and that the Public Prosecutor would then distribute them in accordance with his needs, Deskoska said.

Janeva is notorious for hiring her close relatives, and relatives of her staff, which added to the opposition calls that there must be no automatic guarantee for permanent state jobs for them.
