French President Emmanuel Macron did not address enlargement during his arrival at the European Council today, after he announced a veto for the opening of accession talks with Macedonia and Albania yesterday.
Macron spoke to the press about the breakthrough in the Brexit negotiations, but did not say a word about his enlargement decision. France demands significant internal reforms in the EU, deepening of the union and centralizing the decision making process, as well as changes to the way enlargement is conducted, before he can give the green light for the two countries to open their accession talks.
