Members of the Jewish religious group Lev Tahor, who are currently staying at the Praga Hotel in the Ohrid village of Gorno Lakocerej, believe that hatred is being created against them unnecessarily. They rejects the claims about their activities in the places where they temporarily stay as lies and speculation.

A member of the group in a statement given to the media said that Macedonia is a beautiful country, the people are good, regardless of the fact that individuals react negatively to their presence.

We are here to visit some Jewish buildings, synagogues, to visit relatives, graves of our ancestors… We have no plans to seek any permanent residence, we are here temporarily, we have a three-month residence permit, and we do not intend to stay here for more than a month, says a member of the group.

Regarding the reactions of the local population, she notes that hatred is created against them unnecessarily, they are denied their right to move freely and visit the places they came here for.

Residents of the village of Gorno Lakocerej mobilized and announced a protest over the presence of Lev Tahor members at the Praga Hotel, demanding that they leave because of alleged fears for the safety of their children.
