VMRO-DPMNE member of Parliament Antonio Milososki said that the Government is clearly heavily involved in the removal of Sulejman Rexhepi as head of the Islamic Community in Macedonia (IVZ), and the appointment, with police support, of Skender Buzaku in his place.
– The IVZ events are not free from politics. This is political interference of top officials of the ruling coalition in the religious community. A high level politician, from the Parliament, is very interested to replace the IVZ leadership, Milososki said, without identifying the official.
SDSM party deputy leader Muhamed Zekiri is outspoken in his hatred of Sulejman Rexhepi, which contributed to Rexhepi’s’ call to the faithful to vote against SDSM presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski. It is likely that this feud sparked the police intervention today.
