Outgoing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev addressed Friday a ceremony on the occasion of 22 November – Albanian Alphabet Day.

Tonight’s event in honor of the momentous event in the history of the Albanian people and in the history of the Republic of Macedonia is just one of a series of events organized with great respect these days to mark the Albanian Alphabet Day, thus reaffirming the commitment of the Government for respecting and promoting ethnic and cultural diversity, Zaev said.

He said language and alphabet, as the strongest foundations of national identity through which spiritual heritage is preserved and affirmed, also represent the potential for social integration, education and development of a community that cannot survive in isolation and self-sufficiency.

To that end, it is our duty and responsibility not only to respect, preserve and nurture the ethnic, national, religious and cultural differences of each community, but to use that potential to establish communication, understanding, tolerance and community. Observing the cultural traditions, dates and spiritual legacies of the other, contributes to building a one  society for all, with a pro-European and prosperous future, Zaev said.
