Former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras mocked his successor Kyriakos Mitsotakis for not moving to cancel the Prespa treaty after assuming power. Tsipras reminded the public how the conservatives led by Mitsotakis protested against the treaty and attacked member of Parliament from his leftist SYRIZA party for voting in favor.

And now they say that, not only will they implement the treaty, they demand its strict implementation. We tell them that it’s good what they’re doing. It’s a treaty that is worth respecting by all future Governments, and it makes their somersault even more impressive, Tsipras said.

Mitsotakis swept the elections, in large part due to popular opposition to the Prespa treaty. According to Tsipras, the treaty helped Greece open for additional Chinese investments in her infrastructure.
