Zoran Zaev again insisted that the 2020 elections will be held in October, close to the regular December date, but allowing Zaev to still claim that the elections are “early”. Zaev made the claim even as his party and Government officials are busily campaigning around Macedonia, given that the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party demands elections in March.

The early elections will be at the end of October 2020, 45 days ahead of the regular date for elections. We need to use every day, every week, every month to reap the benefits of the growth of the economy that is happening as the result of the EU and NATO impact, Zaev said during the visit to a car parts factory opened during the previous VMRO-DPMNE Government.

Polls have turned against Zaev lately as the effects of the imposed name change and the major corruption scandals drag down his party.
