Zoran Zaev said that he personally believes that Frosina Remenski, a top official of his SDSM party who is charged with money laundering in the major Racket case, is innocent.

I expect her to prove her innocence as soon as possible, so she will be able to return to the party organs, Zaev said during a press conference with Slovenian Prime Minister Marjan Sarec.

Zaev also tried to present the latest high level corruption charges against his political allies as evidence that rule of law is working in Macedonia.

I’m happy that in all possible forms and ways we have proven the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, but this Constitution of ours which guarantees the presumption of innocence. As I said when this case was initiated, I will say it again, my party will decide to temporarily suspend her from the Central Committee and the Executive Committee. That is our principled position, Zaev said when asked about the Remenski scandal.
