Zoran Zaev allowed the leader of a foreign country to negotiate on behalf of Macedonia, said VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski in his address today. This was confirmed by Zaev himself recently, when he said that Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was involved in negotiations with Alexis Tsipras of Greece, “as if he was talking about his own country”.
Zaev is willing to put our identity on the line. We learn from the press what he is offering to the Bulgarian side, a new memorandum with humiliating conditions. Zaev allowed open interference in our internal affairs as he acknowledges that the Bulgarian Prime Minister was speaking for us, as for his own country. We don’t know what exactly Zaev is promising as the opposition is shut out from the entire process, Mickoski said.
Mickoski blamed Zaev for keeping secret the memorandum he is currently negotiating with Bulgaria, which is expected to contain additional conditions and concessions from Macedonia, besides those already agreed to in the 2017 Zaev – Borisov treaty. These actions, according to Mickoski, can be explained only by lucrative motives. We see that there is an on-going process to sell the Ilovica mine project. The same mine that Zaev insisted will never be opened”, Mickoski said. Media outlets have alleged that the Zaev regime is planning to give the green light for the development of the huge copper and gold mine, but not to the Canadian company that was the original owner, but to a Bulgarian company, with companies linked to the Zaev family hired as subcontractors.
