The Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev, in response to a journalist question, commented on the latest developments regarding the blocking of the EU enlargement process.

What should we politicians today, me Zoran Zaev, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, have in mind what do we do with the history we are writing today? What do we leave to the children and future generations who depend on us now? Will we leave them a legacy of friendship, brotherhood, unity, European values, mutual assistance, or will we divide them again as in the time of the Iron Curtain? Our task is to move forward. Let’s move forward and I believe that conditions will be created as soon as possible. We are not giving up and we will continue to work. Of course, there is a period of holidays and during those days the activities will probably decrease, and after the holidays we will work more intensively again. I want to comment on the reactions of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. I am glad that there is still something European in the European Union. I say this with a dose of bitterness because if anyone deserved to receive support for the next step on the EU road, it is the Republic of Macedonia. The least the EU can do is lose European values and principles. I hope that the EU will continue to send that spirit to us candidate countries because we have no other alternative, said Zaev.
