Branko Azeski, head of the SKM chamber of commerce, came out in opposition to the planned new increase in the minimum wage to 18,000 denars (300 EUR).

You can set the minimum wage at 30,000 denars, if it is based on productivity gains. But not on Government decrees that defy all market logic. The same applies to the plan to declare Sunday a day off. If people want to work, for an extra pay, why not? Are we going to close Ohrid, our tourist resort city, on Sundays?, Azeski asked.
