Public enterprise “Railways Transport” has put into use the first of four new electric locomotives by Chinese manufacturer CRRC.

The electric locomotive is worth 2.13m euros, secured by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The locomotive has passed all tests and has received a TSI certificate from the manufacturer, as well as a license for operation by the Railway Safety Directorate. Tests were conducted according to tender requirements across the country, which found that the tests had satisfied the tender requirement, Railways Transport said.
