The Foreign Affairs Ministry was ordered to return two diplomats back to work, after firing them over participating in political rallies of the opposition. A third case is on going before the court.
After SDSM took over the Government, a number of their institutions demanded that the Interior Ministry provides them with information which public employees attended VMRO-DPMNE led protests, including the one in April 2017 which resulted in the storming of the Parliament. The Foreign Ministry then began firing its employees who were seen as attending the rallies, but the courts found that peacefully attending a rally outside of office hours is not grounds for firing people.
The Ministry will now have to give the employees back pay and benefits.
