SDSM party official Aleksandar Kiracovski is stepping up his campaign of intimidation against Republika. At a time when the police is raiding news outlets and prosecutors are going after against investigative journalists, Kiracovski filed charges against the Republika manager Done Donevski.

The reason for the latest charge to come from him is that Republika published a Facebook comment by a former SDSM party activist from Kiracovski’s home town of Bitola, who has accused Kiracovski of corruption. In the charge, Kiracovski demands 40.000 denars (655 EUR) in damages.
Republika has frequently invited Kiracovski for an interview that would allow him an opportunity to clarify all issues, but he has persistently refused. Even Kiracovski’s lawyer threatened to sue Republika, for publishing excerpts from a Washington Post article alleging that he took over a pro-Trump Facebook group in the US and was spreading fake news.

Kiracovski is the most insistent of the members of the Zaev inner circle that threaten to sue Republika, but he’s far from the only one. Defense Minister Radmila Sekerinska and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov have also threatened to sue us, again over reports of alleged links to the Racket corruption scandal.

Kiracovski was replaced as SDSM party Secretary General as part of Zaev’s so-called purge. Months later he was interrogated by prosecutor Vilma Ruskoska for his alleged role in the Racket corruption scandal.
