Turnout remains higher than expected in the two main cities that vote for mayors in the second round – other than Skopje. Ohrid and Bitola had the VMRO-DPMNE candidates win the first round, but not by enough to avoid a run-off.

Turnout in Ohrid today reached 50.8 percent by 17h, while it was 46 percent at the same time in the first round. In Bitola, 51.7 percent voted by 17h – it was 46.2 percent in the first round.

Voters came out in larger numbers across the country in the early hours of the day, but now the numbers are coming down close to their first round levels – except in the areas that also have local mayoral races, mainly Skopje, Bitola and Ohrid.
