SDSM is sending mixed signals about whether it is engaged in negotiations with Bulgaria, said the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party. Prime Minister and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said that there are on-going talks with Bulgaria, but at a lower level, through the foreign ministries, while SDSM spokesman Kostadin Kostadinov claimed that there are no talks at the moment. Former Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev informed the public that he expects a major decision to be reached this week, as Bulgaria demands strict adherence from Zaev to the 2017 Zaev – Borisov treaty, and likely also a new, more binding treaty.
SDSM sounds like an orchestra out of tune. Kostadinov denies the reports, while outgoing Prime Minister Zaev confirms them. According to our reports, what is on the table in Sofia is no less than the sale of our homeland, identity, language and history, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release.
The opposition party is organizing protests to protest Zaev’s announced acceptance of all Bulgarian positions. Zaev made the declaration in an interview for a Bulgarian news outlet, but it is widely expected that Bulgaria will demand a strict, legally binding treaty from him, after accusing him of not implementing the 2017 treaty.
