The person who killed four people at a police station in Paris attacking them with a knife was also a police officer, local media report. He has been shot dead during the attack.

The incident happened in the Ile de la Cite, in the very center of Paris close to the Notre Dame, a day after officers were on strike to protest frequent attacks against them. The middle aged attacker worked for 20 years as an administrative clerk in the Paris police intelligence division and recently had an argument with a supervisor. “We are all in shock”, a police union representative said.
