Prime Minister Kiril Petkov is trying to ignore the coalition agreement on Macedonia and lift Bulgaria’s veto without any conditions, the leader of the “There is such a people” party, Slavi Trifonov wrote on Facebook.

I want to tell you something. I will do it as I always do, openly and honestly. Regardless of which party you sympathize with, regardless of which party you voted for, regardless of whether you voted at all. There is something that all of you citizens of Bulgaria should know. As you know, before the formation of this Government, we, the 4 parties in the coalition, held talks and signed a coalition agreement. In the foreign policy section, we all agreed that Bulgaria will maintain its current position in relation to Macedonia. This means that the start of negotiations with the EU will take place when they start implementing the 2017 Agreement. Unfortunately, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov wants to ignore this agreement and lift the veto without any conditions. He wants the North Macedonians to start negotiations with the EU by the end of June, without any legal guarantees for the rights of the Bulgarians in that country. I have to specify that he is doing this without coordinating his activities with the diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Parliament and the coalition partners, Trifonov wrote.

We from TSP and I as a citizen of Bulgaria believe that there are things that cannot be traded. National honor and dignity are not for sale. The same goes for the rights of Bulgarians in Macedonia. Historical memory and truth are not for sale. That is my opinion and I hope you think so too. We are simply Bulgarians. That is why we from TSP will not agree with the unconditional and agreed somewhere in the dark that the veto for Macedonia should be lifted, adds Trifonov.
