The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is set to reach a decision on the pricing of heating in Skopje by the end of this month, with the new pricing structure scheduled to come into effect from November, confirmed ERC President Marko Bislimoski.

Bislimoski elaborated on a recent meeting with the three state-owned companies of ESM, responsible for the production, distribution, and supply of heat energy. They discussed the challenges encountered at the outset of the heating season. Despite the unseasonably warm temperatures, typical technical and some human-related issues persist each heating season, such as unpaid electricity bills by building councils.

ESM’s heat distribution faced a specific situation, wherein crews were initially denied access to a portion of the infrastructure supplying heat energy to certain residents in the Vodno neighborhood. However, this issue has been resolved, and heat supply is now proceeding smoothly.

Activities have already commenced for the installation of heat pipes beneath the Belasica bridge in Skopje, which had been damaged by fire.

As a result, the ERC will initiate the process of calculating a new heating price, which will be effective from November. The final decision on this matter is expected to be made by the end of October.
