As of January 1, electricity bills would increase by 38%, according to the initial demands of the energy companies, and not ten percent as announced by the government.

EVN – Elektrodistribucija has already submitted a request for 100% increase due to large network losses and high stock exchange prices, which according to ERC President Marko Bislimovski would mean a 34% increase in the final electricity bill. The request from MEPSO is also expected to arrive, which has already announced that their calculations show 60% higher costs, which would mean an additional 4% increase in the final bill. Apart from MEPSO, the request of EVN Home is also expected.

100% increased costs for losses have been requested. There are a total of 140 million euros due to external influences, there are no new employments there. And if 33-34% of the final price is accepted. If the final price is such an additional 4%, it means without EVN 37-38% increase, said Marko Bislimovski, President of ERC.

The ERC will decide next week on the requests of the energy companies, what and how much it will accept. The question remains whether there will still be a daily cheap tariff after the New Year. Bislimovski explains that it will depend on several factors and it is yet to be analyzed whether it will be abolished or not, in order to avoid additional price shock for households.
