The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) said Saturday that after the mass workers’ protest it has submitted a motion to the Labor Ministry and the coordinators of parliamentary groups regarding the adoption of the bill on minimum wage, proposing that the minimum wage should amount to 18,000 denars (close to 300 euros) as of January 2022.

According to the proposal, the amount of the minimum wage cannot be lower than 60 percent of the average monthly net wage paid per employee in the last three months, and published by the State Statistical Office.

If there is no result, SSM will call for a general strike that will continue through various forms of expression of workers’ dissatisfaction and union pressure, said SSM.
