The ratification process of the NATO Membership Protocol, runs smoothly, but depending on the political developments in certain countries, it can only lead to being postponed to a later date in terms of the accession, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Tacan Ildem said on Tuesday.

This confirms Pressing TV’s writings that Macedonia will not become the 30th NATO member in December when the summit takes place.

The reasons for this are not political but technical. So far, 22 countries have ratified the protocol, and 6 procedures are ongoing. Spain is the most problematic because currently it has no government.

The elections are scheduled for November and it hardly that the Parliament will be formed by the end of the year and adopt the protocol for our membership. Diplomatic corps mention early May 2020 as date when Macedonia could receive an invitation for admission.
