Claims that the Macedonian identity and language start from 1945 are unacceptable for VMRO-DPMNE, the leader of the opposition party, Hristijan Mickoski, said in Tuesday’s interview with TV Alsat.

He also said that the claims about the role of Bulgaria in the Second World War were unacceptable for the party.

If the Bulgarian thesis is that we suddenly came around in 1945 and from that moment we declared ourselves Macedonians who codified their language, we cannot support that thesis because there is neither historical nor any ethnological anthropology. If their thesis is that they were administrators who came to free us, we cannot accept that either. There is a capitulation agreement with which Bulgaria admits that it was on the side of the fascist occupation, Mickoski said.
