AFter the Brookings Institution, Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov also denied the report that he intends to leave his position and take up a well paid job in D.C.

It’s a shameless fake news report, a malevolent speculation and nothing more, Dimitrov’s office replied to requests for comment.

The Zaev Government is in purge mode after the devastating results of the presidential elections, when his large coalition lost 2/5 of its 2017 votes and had to resort to courting the Albanian opposition vote in order to defeat the VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate. Zaev promised to purge his corrupt and incompetent officials, but is facing early resistance and ditching Dimitrov, who joined him as a former VMRO-DPMNE official, would be among the politically least painful moves he can make, especially after passing Dimitrov over for the Presidency.

According to our report, Dimitrov received an offer from Brookings’ Victoria Nuland to join the institution. He has previously worked in a now bankrupt Dutch institute and reports about him included the possibility he would go back to The Hague.
