More than 50 nurses and two doctors from cities across Macedonia are sent to the two main clinics in Skopje tasked with caring for the most difficult Covid-19 cases. Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce said that 54 nurses and the two doctors will be deployed to the Infectious Diseases Clinic and the 8th of September hospital in Skopje, while the Second Wave of the coronavirus epidemic lasts.

We are using a system of rotation. Our institutions operate as one and are giving their maximum, Filipce said.

Nurses from Kocani, Veles, Kavadarci and Kicevo are being sent to the capital. The two clinics cared for up to 90 patients at any given time during the presumed peak of the epidemic in mid April. Now, after disregard for the social distancing rules during the month of Ramadan caused a major spike that surpasses April, there are over 150 patients hospitalized in the two clinics, the number of newly infected patients registered each day approaches 200 and the daily death toll has reached record nine deaths on Sunday.
