The SDSM representatives in the Aerodrom municipal council rejected a proposal from VMRO-DPMNE to alter the spatial plan and relocate the kindergarten under construction in the Blaze Koneski school.

Parents of children who attend the school protested recently demanding that the children are allowed to keep their school yard, which is currently being dug up for the kindergarten.

This is one of the most densely populated parts of the capital Skopje and has recently added dozens of new residential buildings. This has created a huge demand for access to publicly funded kindergartens but the parents insist that room can be found without depriving the elementary school children of a place to play.

VMRO-DPMNE proposed that the demands of the parents are heard, but the majority in the council voted against.

Aerodrom swung from supporting SDSM in the 2016 early general elections and the 2017 municipal elections to supporting VMRO in the 2019 presidential elections, and is one of the most watched bellwether district ahead of the coming early general elections in April 2020.
