Despite optimistic expectations that the ratification of Macedonia’s NATO accession is just around the corner, Defense Minister Radmila Sekerinska now says that it could happen in early March. All NATO member states, except Spain, ratified Macedonia’s NATO accession, and the Macedonian Parliament also voted earlier this week on a delayed effect ratification.

From what we heard from our Spanish colleagues, we expect the Spanish Parliament to ratify the protocol in the first half of March. That means that during that month we will make a huge step forward and achieve a major, strategic project for the country, Sekerinska told the state run MIA news agency.

Spain postponed the ratification due to the long lasting political crisis in that country.
