Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski announced on Friday that national IDs will continue to be utilized domestically even after the expiration of the replacement deadline on February 12. Regarding passports, the Prime Minister emphasized that all possible options will be taken into consideration.

Kovachevski acknowledged the Ministry of Interior’s accomplishment in issuing 1.2 million passports within the country. Despite anticipating criticism, he expressed gratitude to the dedicated individuals working tirelessly on the document issuance process.

He stated, “I am aware that everyone wants to criticize, but one has to also thank the people who are working day and night on the procedure of document issuance, so 1.2 million passports is not a small number. I believe this pace will be sustained, and we will consider all options regarding the extension of the deadline for the passports, which citizens need to travel abroad,” during a briefing with reporters.
