The opening and evaluation of bids to determine their compliance with conditions will take place today. Regarding the tender for the universal electricity supplier, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi stated on Friday that they are unaware of potential applicants.

Responding to a journalist’s question during a panel discussion on “The Economic Advantages of EU Integration for Companies and Citizens inMacedonia,” Bytyqi estimated that a reduced margin could lead to lower electricity bills for citizens. He explained that after the bid opening, there will be an administrative check to assess applicants’ compliance with specified conditions, and eligible candidates are still unknown. An auction will follow, and more information is expected within the next 10 days.

Bytyqi emphasized that a decreased margin in the final price for end-users should contribute to cost reduction. He also mentioned that efforts are being made through investments in renewable sources and the transition to “green energy” to ensure citizens benefit from lower electricity prices as end-users.

The Ministry of Economy informed this morning that the deadline for bid submission for the tender of a new universal supplier expires at 3:00 pm today. The evaluation commission will subsequently open the bids and assess their compliance with the specified conditions.
