Tobacco harvest is 30 to 40 percent lower than last year

Tobacco farmers say that their harvest is down by 30 to 40 percent compared to last year.

The reason is the rain that hit during the planting season and the drought right before harvest. “We have tobacco of excellent quality but the quantity will be much smaller than last year, despite the expansion of the fields”, said Mende Stomnaroski, head of the association of agricultural unions.
