Inspectors closed five night clubs in Skopje for Covid violations. In a rare raid meant to check whether patrons are carrying vaccine certificates, numerous violations were found.
In one club, on Jordan Mijalkov street in Skopje, police found two people with fake certificates and 15 without a certificate. In another, nine guests did not have certificates, and a minor was also found. Similar issues were found in the other clubs that were raided.
It takes a vaccine certificate to enter a restaurant, night club or shopping mall, but the accuracy of the certificates is rarely checked, leading to widespread fraud.
The fraudsters and the club will face financial fines.
