Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told the Macedonian Government to mind its own business and urged a vote against it at the coming elections, after the snub of this year’s Nobel literature prize.

acedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov ordered the Ambassador to Stockholm to boycott the awarding of the literature prize because recipient Peter Handke was supportive of the Milosevic regime in Serbia. Bosnian war survivors have called on the Nobel committee to withdraw its decision and strip the Austrian writer of his prize, and a number of Balkan countries said they will not participate in the event out of solidarity.

They should mind their own business. Their boycott showed the Serbs in “North” Macedonia who to vote for. I think that their problem is much greater than ours, Vucic said, adding that Handke is a world renowned writer and friend of Serbia. “He suffered a lot because he believes in truth and in peace and would not fall for NATO tricks and provocations”.
