With an area of 76.5 square kilometers and a price above 10.5 billion euros, 35 kilometers to the north of Istanbul is located the world’s largest airport. For comparison, the airport is three and a half times bigger than that of Frankfurt. The airport contains six separate runways, has capacity for 500 aircraft, an open and closed-type parking lot with a capacity of 70,000 vehicles and once fully completed it will have an annual passenger capacity of up to 200 million with 3,500 daily landings and take-offs to more than 350 destinations around the world.

The airport was opened in October last year by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the presence of more than 50 senior officials from all over the world, including Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov.
