Let’s celebrate and honor the ethnic and linguistic diversity of our society as our advantage, as our common treasure, said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on the occasion of November 22 – the Albanian Alphabet Day.
On this day in 1908, the Bitola Congress ended in Bitola, at which the Albanian standardized alphabet was created. The congress was convened on November 14 and was attended by delegates from Macedonia, Albania, and Albanian communities in Romania, Egypt, America, Greece, Turkey, Italy, and other countries.
With the proclamation of November 22 as the Albanian Alphabet Day and the celebration of this important holiday for the Albanian community as an integral part of the linguistic and cultural wealth of Macedonia, we confirm that the language and the alphabet are bridges for understanding between traditions, cultures and spiritual heritage. Our Macedonian values, which are at the same time European and with which we are moving on the EU integration path, call us to that, Zaev wrote on Facebook.
