Inspection services continue to patrol key energy and food retailers, after last week saw shortages in some stores and long lines developing at gas stations.

The Government, which froze profit margins for retailers, is blaming the companies for “wartime profiteering” – in the words of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski.

Key focus of the action is on distribution centers and the wholesalers, as well as supermarkets who have their own distribution centers. The goal is to make sure that the shelves are stocked when the products are available. Citizens should be calm, there is enough food and fuel and they should not succumb to any speculations, the Government’s press service said.
