British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the Parliament to accept the deal that was announced today between his Government and the European Union. Meanwhile, outgoing European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker said that the deal means there will be no delays to Brexit, and the United Kingdom will leave the EU by the end of this month.

For us in the UK it means we can now deliver a real Brexit that achieves our objectives, that the UK leaves whole and entire on October 31st, and that Northern Ireland and every other part of the UK will take part not just in free trade deals around the world, but that we can make decisions about our future, our laws, borders, our money and how we want to run the UK, Johnson said during the joint press conference today.

I have to say I’m happy about the deal, but I’m sad about Brexit, Juncker replied.

The deal was promptly rejected by the DUP, a small unionist party from Northern Ireland which props up the British Government. This will likely mean that Prime Minister Johnson will have to turn to opposition members of Parliament to get the deal through, denying them from their request to have another referendum.
