FIFA, the authority that oversees football, said on Thursday that World Cup runner-up Kylian Mbappe, Champions League victor Erling Haaland, and World champion Lionel Messi are the three candidates for the title of greatest player of 2023.

Messi, who won The Best Men’s Player in 2022, helped Argentina upset Mbappe’s France in Qatar last year to win their first World Cup trophy since 1986 and third overall.

Haaland, on the other hand, lifted the FA Cup, Premier League, and UEFA Champions League trophies to assist Manchester City in winning their first treble.

Aitana Bonmati and Jennifer Hermoso, the world champions from Spain, along with Linda Caicedo, a rising star from Colombia, are competing for the title of best women’s player.

On January 15, there will be a ceremony to reveal the winners.
