Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefanov’s “Honeyland” has also been shortlisted for nomination for best documentary. The Academy Awards released the shortlists in nine categories. On January 13, five will be selected to receive an Oscar nomination.
One hundred and fifty-nine films were eligible for consideration; there are 15 on the shortlist. Macedonian film “Honeyland” will compete for Oscar nomination with “Advocate”, “American Factory”, “The Apollo”, “Apollo 11”, “Aquarela”, “The Biggest Little Farm”, “The Cave”, “The Edge of Democracy”, “For Sama”, “The Great Hack”, “Knock Down the House”, “Maiden”, “Midnight Family” and “One Child Nation”.
In the category of best foreign language film, 10 films out of 91 entries were shortlisted. The other films besides “Honeyland” are: Czech Republic, “The Painted Bird”, Estonia, “Truth and Justice”, France, “Les Misérables”, Hungary, “Those Who Remained”, Poland, “Corpus Christi”, Russia, “Beanpole”, Senegal, “Atlantics”, South Korea, “Parasite” and Spain, “Pain and Glory”.
The 92nd Academy Awards will take place on February 9, 2020.
