Culture Minister Asaf Ademi continued his rounds of meetings with cultural organizations angry at him after he cut public funding for established projects to boost money for promotion of Albanian culture.
With this Ademi, who comes from the small ethnic Albanian Alternative/BESA party, got into a fight with mostly left leaning cultural organizations who are close to the ruling SDSM party, took part in its Colored Revolution protests and now demand “their due”.
Ademi met with director Slobodan Unkovski, DJ Mirko Popov, representatives from the FRCU/AKTO group and other politically active organizations, and promised them that the Ministry will ask Parliament to amend the law and the way cultural events are funded from the budget. Ademi also promised that public debates will be held to hear out the demands of the organizations which were left out from the annual program, mentioning that European standards will be introduced when the money is being divided.
