Five days after Zoran Zaev announced his resignation as Prime Minister and SDSM party leader, he still hasn’t submitted it to the Parliament.
Zaev made the announcement on Sunday, after his SDSM party badly lost in the local elections. His resignation would mean that the entire Government has resigned.
Still, Zaev insists that SDSM can remain in power, through a different Prime Minister. At the moment all key coalition partners still say that they will support this option, with some of them like DUI demanding that Zaev withdraws his resignation, but BESA is considering dropping out due to its on-going disputes with DUI. Other parties are eager to wring out a much higher price from Zaev for remaining in the coalition.
