The Republic of Macedonia and the countries of the Western Balkans are working intensively for the effective implementation of the agreements that outline the goal of our region becoming a connected, common and open market, the Minister of Information Society and Administration, Jeton Shaqiri said on Monday.

The meeting held in Nis was attended by working groups from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information Society and Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, as well as representatives of the Accreditation Institute of the Customs Administration, the Food and Veterinary Agency, the Inspectorate of Agriculture, the Phytosanitary Administration, the State Health and Sanitary Inspectorate. At the meeting, the next steps through which the “Open Balkans” initiative as of next year will provide free access to the labor market were determined. “Open Balkan ID” will provide free access to the labor market and facilitate the import, export and movement of goods in the Western Balkans, which opens a number of benefits to citizens throughout the region.
